Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect at my first acupuncture appointment?

Your first appointment starts with a consultation and assessment. Jay will discuss your symptoms, health history and goals, then explain the proposed treatment plan. Treatment may include cupping or gua sha alongside acupuncture when appropriate. Wear loose, comfortable clothing; for some treatment areas, clothing may need to be adjusted or removed, but underwear stays on and proper draping is always used for privacy. Jay will explain each step and ask for your consent before proceeding.

Does acupuncture hurt?

You may notice a mild tingling, warmth, or a dull sensation near the needle site — the needles are much finer than the hollow needles used for injections or blood draws.

What can acupuncture help with?

Acupuncture may be beneficial for a range of health concerns, including neck and back pain, shoulder, hip and knee pain, muscle tension and sports injuries, headaches and migraines, sciatica, arthritis and joint pain, stress and anxiety, sleep difficulties, digestive concerns, women’s health concerns, TMJ and jaw tension, facial pain, inflammation, general wellness and preventative care. Acupuncture is a complement to — not a replacement for — conventional medical care; always consult a physician for serious or urgent health concerns.

Is there parking?

Pure Form Physio has free parking for patients. If the lot is full, street parking is available nearby.
